A noun is a word that names a person, animal, thing, idea, or place. Nouns often function as subjects or objects in a sentence. There are a lot of nouns in the English language. There are different types of nouns:
- Concrete Nouns: you identify them with your five senses (smell, touch, hear, sound, sight).
- Countable and Uncountable Nouns: nouns that follow a singular or plural form are countable, and nouns that can ONLY have a singular form or are counted by other measuring metrics (liters, kilograms, kilometers, etc) are uncountable.
- Proper Nouns: these are the names of people, places, and brands.
- Possessive Nouns: They show possession. Indicates a relationship between an object and its owner.
- Abstract Nouns: words that represent an intangible concept: ideas, emotions, feelings, or qualities.
